Robustly built with a uniform body colour being silvery grey to pinkish red or even sandy brown. Underparts are white with distinct spotting on chest. Has high upstanding black-backed ears with tassels of long hair on tips. Distinctive black markings on face from inside corners of eyes to nose and above eyes. Tail is short with a dark tip.
